Disposal in Big Bags – DreckPack Concept

Disposal of asbestos and mineral wool

Our unique concept for the disposal of asbestos and mineral wool is called DreckPack.

At our company, the BigBags are transported as intended, namely via the lifting loops and not in the container or on pallets! That is why we rely on our crane vehicles and self-loading trucks for the disposal of asbestos and mineral wool.

This creates many advantages for our customers. We can avoid empty trips and you save the cost of renting a container. The big bags can also be picked up directly at the point of origin, which avoids you having to move the hazardous waste materials unnecessarily. You also no longer need to plan quantities in advance for the disposal of asbestos and mineral wool. When you are ready, just call and specify the quantity of big bags. We organize the rest!

We carry out the collection of big bags directly with the help of a crane truck or the RC loader. The high stability of the BigBags and the attached lifting loops are designed for this and make this possible. Collection by crane has the decisive advantage that the big bags do not have to be loaded onto pallets and transported by forklift. Our trucks can pick up and load the big bags directly on site. If you have a larger job site, you can even just leave the big bags at the fill site. We collect them!

Asbestos disposal

In addition, once the material has been disassembled, analyzed and properly packaged, it must be disposed of properly. The disposal of asbestos or asbestos-containing waste, if required by state law, is only permitted in facilities approved for this purpose (above-ground landfills or underground landfills, pretreatment facilities) after assignment by the competent authority, so that asbestos fiber release is avoided (details on this are regulated, among other things, by the Landfill Ordinance (DepV)). The guidelines for transport and intermediate storage of waste containing asbestos are regulated in TRGS 519.

With DESABAU you have an absolutely competent and reliable partner for the dismantling and disposal of asbestos at your side!

Disposal of asbestos and mineral wool – Which asbestos MUST be cleaned up/disposed of?

The question of whether all materials containing asbestos must be cleaned up and disposed of can be answered succinctly: weakly bonded and pure asbestos in public buildings are subject to a cleanup pflicht, whereas material made from strongly bonded asbestos, is not. The three different types of asbestos are explained below:

Weakly bonded asbestos:
… is often found in gaskets, insulation and insulation and is considered particularly dangerous because asbestos fibers can dissolve quickly and enter the respiratory tract.

Pure asbestos:
… is often found in fireplace/furnace sealants, fireproof textiles and fillers. It is classified as similarly hazardous to weakly bonded asbestos. Depending on the amount of binder, little to no cohesion of the fibers is required.

Strongly bonded asbestos:
… is found in Eternit panels, wall cladding and roofing and is the least dangerous of the three types. In this process, 85% cement and 15% asbestos are mixed. The fibers can only come loose if the material is processed from the outside.

We are your reliable partner when it comes to the disposal of asbestos and mineral wool.

Mineral wool disposal

Disposal of asbestos and mineral wool is our daily business. Mineral wool is disposed of in landfills (DK I or DK II) and covered on site. The dust formation and damaged packaging should be avoided. In recent years, prices at landfills have risen extremely. This is partly because mineral wool is a major waste stream in Germany. Studies show that approximately 150,000 tons of old mineral wool is disposed of annually, as well as approximately 200,000 tons of new mineral wool. A considerably high proportion of the 200,000 tons of new mineral wool is disposed of as old mineral wool due to ignorance.

The cost of a ton of mineral wool used to be 40-50 €/ t. Today, prices between 300 and 675 €/ t can be expected. If 3-11% of the mineral wool produced were recycled, this would have a positive impact on disposal prices.

To counteract rising landfill prices and dwindling landfill capacity, mineral wool recycling is an issue that can no longer be avoided. Although there are already many approaches to a recycling solution and recycling quotas are set by law, none of them is consistently implemented. We are working flat out to find an implementable solution.

With our existing nationwide disposal and logistics concept for the disposal of asbestos and mineral wool, we are the right contact for users, intermediaries and manufacturers who have to comply with statutory recycling quotas. Contact us if you want to make a lasting difference for the environment!
